Transfer case and differential application
Permalink

I'm due to change my transfer case (GL-4 gear oil) and differential fluids (GL-5 oil), and would like to clean them out with Auto-Rx before hand. The differential application says 2 oz. of Auto-Rx per quart of oil and to drive for 1,000 miles. My front and rear differentials both take quarts of 2.7 quarts oil, and my transfer case takes roughly the same amount.

That said, would it be possible to substitute 1 oz. per quart of oil and drive for 2,000 miles? Thank you.

Falcon LS,

I would stay with the the instructions. You have 2.7 quarts of fluid I would use 6oz total of ARX and drive 1,000 miles.

I would basically do what dbdeland says here.

Add 3 ounces of auto-rx to each of the differentials.

1) 3 ounces for the front diff
2) 3 ounces for the rear diff
