1992 156k mile BMW 325iC...no more oil consumption

My symptoms were oil consumption (about 1 qt. per 1000 miles) and when I changed the oil pan gasket I noticed the pan was caked with crud pretty badly.  I also have some weeping from some of the seals (crank and camshaft).  After 1 application my oil consumption has all but disappeared.  Rather than doing another application I've gone to the maintenance application after my first rinse.  Auto-rx is an honest product not a cure-all or snake oil.  My recommendation is to try it for one application and see how it helps.  In my case, it worked as advertised.  Thanks! biggrin

cruzer,

Thank you for becomming a member of the Discussions Board and using ARX. With 156K miles I would do another cleaning because of what condition the pan was in and make sure your engine gets cleaned.

Thanks for the advice Daryl.  I have an extra bottle with me and I just did an oil change so doing a second application would be easy for me.  I'll go ahead and add the rest of the bottle then.

I would definetly do another Clean and Rinse, and it would be a good idea to check out your PCV Valve and since you mentioned some crud I would also check out your thermostat.
