I am now 2000 miles into the Clean Phase of auto-rx, before this car was getting about 21 m.p.g. in the winter time. It is important to remember that with winter gas your mileage can be down almost 10%.
I have been recording my gas mileage since starting the Clean Phase and I am happy to report that I have been getting 23.5 m.p.g.
This is a 2004 Mercury Marauder with a DOHC 4.6 Liter V-8 Engine. The car weighs 4200 pounds without the driver.
I started doing the Maintenance Dose at 15,000 miles and then I decided to do a Clean and Rinse. My belief now is that if you have a brand new car it is good to start the Maintenance Dose after your 1st oil change at 3000 miles.
If you have 10,000 miles or more I think it is better to do a Clean and Rinse, this is only because of my observations.
The 23.5 m.p.g. is good since it has been very cold up here lately. I feel that with the warmer weather and the summer blend of gas that will be coming out soon that my gas mileage will probably be better.
I also attribute the better gas mileage to auto-rx keeping everything clean inside the engine which is leading to optimal efficiency.
I envy you and your Marauder. I'll trade you my Grand Marquis and Boardwalk and Park Place for it!

I must admit after doing a clean/rinse phase and sticking tot he maintenance dose my car has had about a 1MPG increase. One might say this is not alot, but over time it does add up. And it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside knowing your car is functioning at it's best efficiency thanks to a clean engine.

Rich, you can go to autotrader or cars.com and see some that are for sale.
There are also guys on mercurymarauder.net and motorcitymarauders that have some of these cars for sale. I have not driven a Grand Marquis so I do not know what your car is like.
