oil consumption during clean phase
Permalink

hi,

i am in my clean phase w/ 1000 km to go prior to rinse phase.  i noticed that midway in my clean phase which is 2000 km, i lost a bit of oil judging it from how the dipstick came out.  the oil that i used in this phase is shell helix (the blue one).

i can't tell exactly how many liters was lost, but from dipstick min and max lines, fresh oil at the beginning of the clean phase is exactly on the max line.  midway, its lower than the max line, around 4mm less.  my engine requires a total of 3.3l of oil btw.

i don't have drivability problems and my compression tests came out pretty well - can't remember the exact figures, but they aren't far from the ideal compression as stated in the engine manual.

as for leaks, i don't have any.  i've been checking possible leak areas, but they remain dry.

question now is, is oil consumption normal in an engine?  as for the oil use, could the oil itself be the culprit?  i know some oil do get consumed - is this oil included?

spyghost,

Thank you for purchasing ARX. I am not sure what your question is if you are consuming oil yes the ARX will also be consumed are you having to add oil now?
