I just took my car to another mechanic. He took valve covers off and stuck his finger in there and it was mud. I am hoping this Auto-RX can help clean this two year old engine out. Do you think it will still work, or is the engine too far gone. Also, I just had the oil changed about two weeks ago, and had it drained. They said there was no oil in the car because it is getting mixed up with the sludge and the oil filter today was clogged with sludge. Any advise anyone has at this point would be so helpful. Is there still hope in cleaning this engine out.
Well, you've got nothing to lose. Is this the same one that you need to turn in? In that time frame, your best chance is the Fast Track method. It's not really setup to do all that you need, but it will do something. Order 2 bottles and go buy about 4 cheap filters that fit your engine.
Step 1: Add a ratio of 3 fluid ounces of Auto-Rx® per quart of oil in the engine sump. For example, a 5-quart system will require 15 fluid ounces of Auto-Rx®. It is recommended that you start with fresh oil and a new filter. Start the motor to circulate motor oil and Auto-Rx® to allow for blending of the two. Circulate for at least five minutes.
Step 2: Drive the vehicle as you normally would for 750 or up to 1,000 miles. Cleaning phase is complete.
Step 3: Drain the oil, change out the filter. Refill the sump with either conventional oil, or Group III oil. No high-mileage oils or Group IV synthetics will work well for this short rinsing cycle.
Step 4: Operate the vehicle as you normally would to accumulate at least 1,000 miles before draining. If you are not making the change to a Group IV synthetic, you may run the conventional or Group III oil for longer than the 1,000 miles listed above. You may run the conventional or Group III out to a maximum of 2,000 miles during this rinse phase. Application is complete. Drain oil and replace filter and add any oil of your choice.
This is not what it's intended to fix. The heavy sludge treatment is more protracted. It might get you far enough along to pass the dealer inspection.
I would change the first filter out at 250 miles. If it's loaded (probably will be) then change another filter in 250 miles ..and so on for somewhere between 750-1000 miles (the longer the better). Then change the oil and filter. I would change the filter again @ 250 miles and see what it looks like. Continue to change filters every 250 miles as needed.
The mass of sludge that you've accumulated is more than any filter can handle in holding capacity. That's why you need to change them often. I the sludge is soft ..you may be in luck. It appears so by the way your mechanic described it. That liquefies relatively easy and quickly saturates a filter.
Good luck.
