Well I just purchased 3 bottles of Auto-Rx for the old Corvair (2 bottles for the air-cooled 6 cylinder engine that I'm repairing and 1 bottle for the manual transaxle).   The combustion chamber inhaled a carburator screw and did damage to the piston and head.   A partial disassembly of the engine revealed sludge on the oil pan, varnishing engine internals, and seal and gasket leaks.  I'm replacing most of the seals and gaskets, and upon engine assembly, will start the Auto-Rx treatment.

The damaged head:

The damaged piston:

The rebuilt head:

The replacement piston/rod/cylinder:

And the varnish / oil covered engine that is being repaired and resealed:

By the way, the engine ran great prior to ingesting the carburator screw.

I'll post more as the cleaning progresses.

Nice ride. My retired corner garage owner had a convertible and, although not fitted to his engine, had the turbo hardware.

I think this will clean up rather nice.
