My Oil light is comming on after adding auto rx?

noHello I just started the sludge application on my 2000 dodge intrepid. I bought mobil 1 synthetic oil, (I heard it is a group III oil so I decided to use that for both sludge and cleaning phases). While driving to town my oil light began to flicker off and on. It will go back off when I accelerate and come back on when I slow down or idle. Is this normal or do I have to be worried? My last intrepid had this issue of the oil light coming on in traffic. I think it was due to low oil pressure. The car has 36,000 miles on it now and before I ran auto rx I was running royal purple with no problems. I run 5W 30 oil in it. Thanks

This is from the Auto-Rx Website (FAQ'S) Why does my engine light come on?
On some engines INTERNAL sensors for engine light -oil light-temperature gage will act in an erratic manner during the cleaning phase. Do not be alarmed as Auto-Rx is removing sludge found on sensors.(lights-etc flashing-staying on) NOT INDICATIVE OF A PROBLEM Gages will return to normal operating condition after rinse phase.

Please use the right oil for sludge removal (it is not Mobil1) on second cleaning application go to Castrol GTX
as cleaning and rinsing oil. Perhaps you should spend more time on web site. We want you to get positive results.

Most posts i read on some other boards are figments of the posters imagination.

Yes, like Franks says ..sometimes the sensors get fouled. If there was any real loss of oil flow you would be hearing it from the lifters.

Is this a 2.7 engine? They're prone to deposit issues.

Buy some cheap filters (Super Tech are $2.47 at WallMart) and change the current one out. You may find the light going away. This won't always be the case.

Yes this is a 2.7 engine. I should have bought cheaper oil filters for this applications. I bought K and N filters which were expensive.

Yeah, the 2.7 is a notorious engine for sludge. Once straightened out, the maintenance dose is what's required to keep it clean. It's cheaper than doing the required short oil change intervals.

Just to reaffirm, this is a hydraulic lash engine. If any oil flow was reduced, the engine would be making noise like bb's in a coffee can. Make sure that the PCV system is upgraded with any newer parts that may have changed from those available at the time of assembly. If no changes were made, then make sure that all passages/components are checked for functionality and cleaned on a regular basis.
