Updated instructions half way through fast track clean.

Dear all

Im new to this forum, and new to Auto-RX.

I ordered two bottles in October for my 2 vehicles as follows:

2009 Subaru Forester (N/A Auto 22K Miles) on which Im intending to run the maintenance dose as its been mine from new and running on Amsoil 5w30 since 10K miles. (3725Miles OCI whilst under warranty). I plan to switch to Amsoil SSO 0W30 before winter.

My second vehicle is a ( new to me) 2002 Impreza outback sport (N/A 5M with 90K miles). I have SOME service history for this,  it appears well cared for, but its not possible to see engine hardware through the filler cap so I dont know the internal state of the engine.  It has some minor knocking (piston slap?) when started from cold.  It doesnt use or leak any oil that Ive noted.

My question is this.   I intend to do the fast track treatment on the Impreza, as I want to switch to Synthetic (planning on GC 0w30) for the winters here in Edmonton (daily starts at -20 deg C without a garage).   I started by changing the oil (Penzzoil yellow bottle 5w30 and OEM filter) and adding a 12oz bottle to the 4 Litre sump.  I believe these were the instructions at the time (mid oct).

However I now see that the instructions have changed (presumable updated based on increased knowledge), and that 6oz per quart is recommended for the fast track.  I therefore added the remaining 9oz from the second bottle after approx 650 miles of the clean phase. (to bring up to 21 oz in 4 Litre sump).

So how long do I run this before changing it and starting the rinse phase? based on the reduced concentration for the first 650 miles I presume I should extend past the 1000 mile fast track recommendation ?  Im thinking 1500 miles ?

Best regards

Jonathan.

Note:  I've converted all KM into Miles, as my British brain still thinks that way.

Hello and welcome.

STEP 1* For best results, Auto-Rx® should be added to a fresh charge of conventional (non-synthetic) oil with a new oil filter installed. Add Auto-Rx® at a rate of 5-6 fluid ounces per quart of motor oil into a warm motor.
STEP 2 After adding Auto-Rx®, run the motor for 5 minutes to disperse Auto-Rx® into the host motor oil.
STEP 3 Cleaning Phase: Over time, drive as you normally would for 750-1000 miles to allow Auto-Rx® to gently cleanse the oiling system internals.
STEP 4 Drain the oil, change the filter, and refill with either conventional or Group III oil. DO NOT USE HIGH-MILEAGE OR SYNTHETIC OILS.
STEP 5 Rinse Phase: Operate the vehicle as you normally would to accumulate at least 1,000 miles before draining. If you are not making the change to a Group IV synthetic, you may run the conventional or Group III oil for longer than the 1,000 miles listed above. You may run the conventional or Group III out to a maximum of 2,000 miles during this rinse phase.
STEP 6 Congratulations! Your cleaning application is done. Drain oil, replace filter, and add any oil of your choice.

We believe you will get better results following the application upgrade as posted here.
