2001 Volvo 2.4L BIG increase in MPG, but now it's starting to idle funny

Added ARX on Dec 23rd, before a long trip.  Within 1000 miles, our mpg went from the usual 26 to 30+ and my check engine light shut off.

Now at 1500 miles, I'm having some issues with idling when cold and it will even die on occasion and the CE light is back on.  Could this be part of the cleaning process?  I'm planning to replace my oil filter as a start.

From your post it sounds like you had your check engine light one before adding Auto-RX? If that is the case you could still be having some other issue completely removed from what Auto-RX is doing. If the check engine light was on before adding Auto-RX that should be checked out before thinking that the Auto-RX may be causing the problem. It's never a good idea to be driving any length of time with the check engine light on as it could indicate a serious problem.

Please have your codes read and post what they are. Most auto parts places will read codes for free.

I wouldn't speculate much before knowing what is causing the CEL as it may be anything from a bad sensor to a failing catalytic converter to a clogged fuel filter.

Yeah. Get the code read. It could be anything from EGR to any number of other things. The two code bouts can be different.

Glad to see that the rings were cleaned up enough to improve your fuel economy!

Will do. I will have to take it to a volvo mechanic/dealer. Apparently, the auto parts stores can't correctly decipher the volvo odb codes.  I'll post back up once I figure it out.
