Real Customers- Real Answers More On VW TDI Diesel

Hi Neil,

Normally the answer would be no. This is because ARX is going to dissolve and suspend a lot of contaminants that have accumulated inside the oiling system. Your filter is likely good for removing particles sizes down to 20 microns or so. The question becomes, Do you really want to circulate dirty oil through the system for 5000 miles?

On the other hand, if you know that the motor you are cleaning is relatively clean, then it may be good to run a 5000 mile cleaning and a 5000 mile rinse. But I dont know if it is or isnt so I will not recommend it. Certainly the oil, if using a group III oil would hold up fine for 5000 miles and so would the Auto-Rx.

What you may want to do is change out the oil filter, if possible at the 3000 mile mark, if it is not loaded to the point of almost going into bypass, then put on a new filter and finish your 5000 miles. At the same time look at the observable condition of the oil. If its really black and not feeling real slick, then I would change it out at the 3000 mile mark. The instructions are printed as a safeguard, guaranteeing a good experience for all users, I cant see what you are attempting to clean.

If you are going to run ARX with a full synthetic group IV oil such as mobil 1, then for sure you would want to run a full 5000 miles. As you recall group IV oils are not recommended for maximum cleaning with ARX due to competing esters. ARX will do some cleaning, just not nearly as much.

Hope this helps you out.

If this does not answer your question, then please email me back.

Rich,

Is it ok to run Auto-RX for 5000 since oil changes are 10,000?

Thank You,
