To answer your question, Auto-Rx is added exactly as oil is added. There will be a cap marked OIL. It may have yellow lettering on it. It's also jokingly referred to as the 710 cap ("oil" upside down). It's on one of the valve covers, usually. Some engines combine the dipstick with the oil cap, but your 3.8 V6 is not one of them.
On your 3.8 V6 engine, it should be on the driver side of the engine toward the forward/front end of the valve cover. It should twist off with a partial turning counter clockwise.
The only stupid question is the one that doesn't get asked. Ignorance on a given topic does not indicate lack of intelligence. One indicator of intelligence is knowing when you don't know enough. You passed with flying colors!
Auto-Rx should remedy your lifter tick. Don't be surprised if this is a protracted process. Auto-Rx is a safe and slow product and not a harsh solvent. It's not uncommon to have a few new ticks appear at the onset of the RINSE PHASE. Don't be alarmed. They will retreat as you move forward in mileage.
