Sorry to hear about your sludge issues. And that was good advice with respect to not using a solvent flush. To answer your question about compatibility with Mobil 1 full synthetic motor oil requires a bit more than a one word answer. Is it compatible, yes. Is it the best oil choice to remedy your issue, then no. Auto-Rx performs best in either conventional oil or group III synthetic oil, which are more highly refined conventional oils. Your Mobil 1 oil is what is known as a group IV oil. The base of the oil is PAO. But to couple in additives to this PAO oil base they use esters, as the PAO does not readily accept oil additives. For best results with Auto-Rx, it is desirable to have the cleaning esters of Auto-Rx be the only esters in the mix. So you have two options here.
Option1 would be to run the first bottle of Auto-Rx in your Mobil 1 oil. In stead of running for 3000 miles, up the mileage to 4000 before changing out this oil. Next comes the rinse phase and it would be highly recommended that you run a conventional or group III oil for the 3000 mile rinse phase. Rinsing with Mobil 1 is not desireable, due to esters that cause oil to attract to metal. During the rinsing phase it is desirable to have no polar components or esters. There are several group III synthetic oils on the market, such as Pennsoil Platinum or Castrol Syntec. But for short oil change intervals such as 3000 miles conventional oil would be my choice. A conventional oil will perform fine for this short 3000 mile duration. Since you have noticeable amounts of sludging, it is going to take more than one application to bring this motor back to clean. On the second application, I would run either the group III or conventional oil as the oil of choice to add a full bottle of Auto-Rx to. Run this combo for 3000 miles and again followed by a 3000 mile rinse, no ARX, using group III or conventional oil. At this point I would begin using 4 fluid ounces of Auto-Rx with each oil change, and at this point you could go back to Mobil 1.
Option 2 would be to run out the oil change interval of the Mobil 1 to 3000 miles and dump it. At least you will get some moneys worth out of this current oil change. At this point you will likely not be contributing any more to the sludging issue. I seriously doubt that the short OCI(oil change interval) will remove any of the sludge to any great degree. Now you would start an Auto-Rx application, with fresh conventional oil or Group III synthetic as mentioned previously. Run this mixture for 3000 miles and change out oil and filter with same type oil and run for a 3000 mile rinse. Then start a second application. Auto-Rx added for the cleaning phase, no Auto-Rx added for the rinsing phase. Now you may return to Mobil one of any other group IV full synthetic. And I would suggest running the 4 fluid ounce maintenance dose with each oil change.
To get this unit back to healthy, with respect to oiling system contamination, it will take 3 bottles. One full bottle each for each of 2 cleaning/rinsing applications. Then a third bottle for running the maintenance dose for additional cleaning or maintraining cleanliness over the longer haul.
