There are a number of questions posed by Amsoil users in regard to Auto-Rx in diesels.
While not preferred, you can add Auto-Rx to the last 3000 miles of your existing PAO sump. The di-ester components required in a PAO will slow things down a bit, but the 3000 miles envelope is usually adequate. Properly maintained diesels in normal service aren't prone to sludge, but ring deposits are always present. If one has a neglected engine, or one that the usage interval makes it difficult to maintain, then another treatment may be required.
For the rinse phase the only potentially qualified oil would be the PCO 15w-40 synthetic blend. Given its cost, and the deration of use during the rinse cycle, this would be a more expensive than necessary rinse cycle, but would produce the best affect.
I would rather have a less expensive conventional oil in there for 3-5000 miles during clean or rinse. Makes more sense to me overall and potentially better results? I guess there are some that cannot sleep well with the thought of regular oil in the sump of their engine. Today's conventional oils are actually quite good and heaps better than 10 years ago.
Agreed. There are just some who wish to stay within the product line. The XL line doesn't meet any contemporary diesel specifications. It only meets CF.
