The beauty of Auto-Rx is that it does not require a do it yourself approach. You can use your quick lube oil change to change out your oil and add the Auto-Rx bottle at that time. Or you can just add the bottle of Auto-Rx when you arrive home. If you know where the oil filler cap is then that is all you need to know. Then it just comes down to driving the miles. You mention that you have a minor sludge issue. Normally you would not need to change out the filter half way through the oil change if the sludge is minor. If it is heavy sludge, then I am sure that the quick lube shop could do that for you. Otherwise just run the car for 3000 miles and keep the oil topped off along the way. After 3000 miles, you bring the car back for a normal oil change and filter, and run what we call the rinse phase, which is just running a 3000 mile oil change interval with no Auto-Rx added. Finally you will repeat this process again for the second cleaning and rinse.
It is likely that by cleaning with Auto-Rx you might be able to reduce that oil consumption. I highly recommend that you run either a conventional oil or group III synthetic for the Auto-Rx process.
