I used the search feature of this forum to find out when to begin using Auto-RX on a new vehicle, which did turn up a few results, but I guess the results were too old to view the complete posts...
Anyways, I have a brand new car and I've used Auto-RX in the past, but only on vehicles that already had well over 25k miles on them. When should i begin using Auto-RX? Should i just start the maitenance does at the first oil change interval (10k), since the vehicle is brand new?
I'd say that if you were testing the oil (UOA) you could do it as soon as you please. The residual machining/assembly debris takes time to be removed. Auto-Rx will make that a quicker process. Anything that can be displaced will be kicked off of the metal surface.
Other than that, and aside from the friction modifier in Auto-Rx, it would be a bit difficult to assess the cost:benefit of it at that point. There should be no deposits to clean.
If I ever have cause to buy a new car, it would be something I might do since I'm into UOA for determining the appropriate service interval. Getting the shedding over with, while not altering the oil's suitability for use, cleans up the picture so you can focus on just that.
If this were something like a Subaru turbo, where they shortened the service interval to (iirc) 3500 miles under all conditions, I'd use the maintenance dose right away. They had too many consumers neglecting them and the turbo oil screen would clog, destroying the turbo. 3500 is a ridiculous interval.
