To T-Tech or Not to T-Tech

Hey everyone... Thanks (in advance) for reading!

My car is a 1997 Honda Civic (1.6L) with only 112,000km (70,000 miles) that I've had for a year.

Lately when the AT shifts there is a considerable thump most of the time. I know these older Honda transmissions can be a little rough, but its progressed to the point where I suspect it's a problem. My ATF is clear and red and according to the previous owner, the AT was serviced 2 years ago.

I added 6oz of ARX today and am planning to run the regular 1000-1500mi before changing the fluid, but I'm a little skeptical about running a T-Tech... I have an ANWESOME mechanic, but he's a real "play it safe" kinda guy and I am too... He is of the opinion that doing a complete swap on an OLDER vehicle could lead to bigger problems if a piece of debris is dislodged and gets stuck elsewhere. I would obviously prefer to have ALL new fluid but I CAN NOT afford to rebuild this baby... I also want to clean the magnet - do they skip that step in a T-Tech??

Frank seems to stand by the T-Tech method and I trust Frank also... Hmmm

What do YOU think?

Perhaps your mechanic does not understand Auto-Rx liquify's what it cleans ? we don't break off chunks of anything. If you choose to pay your mechanic to drain and replace your transmission fluid as well as clean out your torque converter it is fine with me.

Auto-Rx is not a "flush" it works slowly removing layer by layer of contaminants ,dirt etc over 1000 miles on most transmissions 1500 miles on badly treated units or ones that added a solvent type transmission additive.

T-TEc Machines use regulated pressure to remove all transmission fluids including cleaning the torque converter and refilling with new transmission fluid for around $100.00 or so .

I drive a 1999 Honda Civic when i bought it immeadiately T-Tec the transmission in fact i did it 2 times second after a 2000 mile period.
engine has benn cleane using basic Auto-Rx Application also did a throttle body cleaning, plugs, wires, etc get 31 MPG with air on and 35 with air off. Great car.

Hi Frank,

Just wanted to let you know how happy I am with ARX in my automatic transmission!

The "clunking" was freaking me out and I was afraid I'd have to rebuild the tranny! No joke, I added 6oz ARX and within the first 100 miles the clunking began to smooth out and out and out and now, after 1000 mi, it's shifting VERY smoothly.

I have an appointment to T-Tech it on Thursday and I'm looking forward to getting nice new clean fluid in there.

If you haven't tried ARX yet give it a shot. Worked awesome in my motor, and just as well in my A/T!

Thank you Frank!
