The application instructions specifically say to "operate the vehicle under normal driving conditions" during the cleaning stage. Can anyone expand on that? Is there anything I should specifically do or not do?
So I shouldn't be racing during the cleaning phase? What about the rinse phase?
I'm trying to condition a used car (135k) for racing (autocross and eventually road course). The phases are long and I have to do two applications for this age/mileage vehicle. It's going to be challenge to get through the 3000 miles before I want to start racing it. I guess I'll do the 2nd treatment next winter (off season).
Yes follow the instructions use Castrol GTX for Auto-Rx Application (both cleaning and rinsing) when finished if you wish to go back to Mobil1 Synthetic impliment the Auto-Rx Maintenace Plan
I would agree on the Fast Track method. You will need to change out the oil to a conventional or group III oil. You can get good cleaning resultys with only 1500 miles of driving operation, followed by at least 1000 miles of a rinse phase on conventional or group III oil. During the logginng of miles on public roads you do not have to drive gingerly. Some spirited driving is sometimes helpful, with oil pressure and flow higher.
I would not suggest running the motor at the redline during the cleaning and rinse phases of the application. But with the game plan ourlined above you should have cleaned up the internals in only 2500 miles.
It's a '97 Miata with a modified suspension (close/similar to Spec Miata). I have yet to receive the car, but I'll be prepared once I do! Cheap/easy/fun way to get more into racing than I already am. I currently daily drive and frequently autocross my '09 Civic Si.
