Common sense finally prevailed. Sold my old rusty Mazda. Bought a 1999 Toyota Camry with the trusted 2.2L Toyota Engine. 130K miles on the vehicle.Plenty of life left in this vehicle!
Ordered auto-rx for both motor and tranny. I know the ARX website says 4-6 Quart engines take 1 bottle of ARX for the basic application. However, this motor only takes about 3.5 quarts if not mistaken! Any harm in adding a full bottle?
Thanks! Look forward to receiving my shipment of Auto-Rx. Hopefully; get the oil changed this weekend and then start the clean phase. Should not take me too long to go through the cycles given the amount if driving I do.
Going to wait till 150K miles before doing the treatment on the transmission!
Will keep you posted on the progress I make with this vehicle.
Got the oil changed this morning. Pennzoil yellow bottle 5 W 30 and a FRAM filter. Vehicle has 129,435 miles on it.
Changed the air filter too. Cannot find a PCV valve for the vehicle at any of my local parts stores! Will pick up some plugs next week and change them once the weather gets better out here in MN.
Vehicle is driven 110+ miles a day and should not be long before I get to the rinse phase!!
Ran ARX through my system - 2 clean and 2 rinse phases. Vehicle had 130K miles when I bought it. Mostly highway miles, and that's what I put on it too. Now in to the maintenance phase.
Mileage as high as 39, and as low as 29 - depending on city/highway driving. For the most part am around the 35 MPG range. There was a small leak up front, not sure what it was, but seems to have subsided since the ARX phases were complete. Oil level did not go down at all, at the last oil change interval.
Will be running ARX through the transmission in a few weeks, and then I should be good for another 200K miles. :)
