Regular oil changes will do nothing to diminish the amount of sludging you have. The good news is you can slowly and safely dissolve the masses over time with Auto-Rx. Auto-Rx is a relatively slow methodical cleaning, working on deposits first where the most oil flow and pressure exists. Therefor the Auto-Rx will work first on the key frictional working parts of the motor first. This would be piston ring packs, cam lobes and lifters, and oil flow that is directed towards crank bearings and cam bearings and bushings. The whole key is to get these areas cleaned up first. And it is vitally important to get your motor cleaned up before the drain holes in the head get clogged. Once the drain holes get plugged the oil can't flow back to the oil pan and recirculate.
If the motor runs strong and is not consuming a bunch of oil at this time, you are likely in good shape in regards to creating greater longevity of this motor. I would also highly advise that you check out or replace the PCV valve on this motor. It may well be a contributing factor to sludging in the first place. You have two options for cleaning up this motor. Either do two basic applications. This is merely adding a single bottle to a fresh oil change, then drive the truck for 3000 miles. Change out the oil and filter and run an oil change interval on just oil, no ARX. Then repeat the process again. If your motor truely looks like the one on the home page, then it will take two or more applications to get it real clean.
Or there is the Fast Track application. This involves adding two full bottles to a fresh oil change and filter. Then driving 3000 miles with one exception. Change out the oil filter at the 1500 mile mark. Top off the oil and proceed on to the 3000 mile mark. Then run a rinse, which is just an oil change interval with no ARX added.
I highly recommend running conventional oil during the cleaning and rinse procedures outlined above. Auto-Rx works best in simple conventional oil.
I hope this info is helpful to you. If you have further questions or concerns, please reply.
