To Flush or Not to Flush...

.. that is the question.

Toyota has 158,XXX miles and counting with each passing day. I purchased the car with 129K last year. Not much is known as far as service history goes. I know the timing belts and water pump was changed. Nothing known about the transmission. Fluid looks nice and red. Just a little below the full mark.

I plan on dumping 6 oz of ARX in there and driving the 1000 miles. After that - should I get a flush at my local Valvoline service center and change the filter? Or should I take it to the shop and get the mechanic to drop the pan, change the fluid and replace the filter?

Heard bad things about doing a tranny flush; but never experienced any.

thoughts?

Auto-Rx Plus is not a flush. We clean all transmission parts and the torque converter with non solvent chemistry. Please visit
www.auto-rx.com and click on link for Transmissions. There is no need to go to a mechanic unless this unit has been abused and something is broken.

I think you misunderstood the question. Once the 1000 mile rinse phase is done with ARX - should I flush the fluid at my local Valvoline Express care? Or should I drop the pan and replace the filter etc etc.

Sorry if i was not clearer just go to your Quick Auto Service Center and have them drain the fluid also make sure they clean the torque converter.
