SLUDGE HOW DO YOU KNOW ?

The only sure way to know if you have sludge is to take off a valve cover or drop the oil pan. Although that is likely not necessary. Have you ever changed out the PCV valve on your motor? This is a cheap part that lets umnburned fuel vapors escape through the valve cover and back through the motors intake for a second chance at reburning. An under performing or stuck PCV valve can lead to sludging issues and oil consumption.

I would suggest you run Fast Track 2 bottle application in this high mileage motor. As part of a fresh oil fill add 2 bottles of Auto-Rx. Then basically drive for 3000 miles. I would suggest running a quality conventional oil, as ARX cleans faster in conventional oil. This should free up the piston rings, if they are bound up with carbon and oxidized oil deposits. This could be the source of oil consumption.
